Staff at the Lindsey Oil Refinery who were sent home after asbestos was found during inquiries into an explosion at the site are returning to work. Traces of the material were discovered by teams investigating the blast at the North East Lincolnshire plant. Grimsby man Robert Greenacre, 24, died in the incident on 29 June.
Total, which owns the refinery, said a number of safety assessments had been carried out and workers had been told to report back to work on Monday. Mr Greenacre was working near a crude oil distillation unit which exploded at the refinery in North Killingholme. Asbestos was found at the site’s HDS-3 processing unit on 30 June.
The Asbestos Removal Contractors Association recently published the latest issue of ARCA News (Issue 69).
